Aren’t my article titles so clever?  I like to be to the point.  This post is about washcloths.  I’ve never made a washcloth before in my life.  I know that crochet washcloths are popular and quick.  In fact I had an old coworker who used to say she would only use crochet washcloths.  I just never found the thought of making them very exciting.  Then I started to see all this scrubby yarn all around and I wanted to make a scrubby washcloth.  I also found some patterns of cute washcloths on Pinterest, so I thought, “What the hell?  I can make some as gifts!”

I had bought some cotton yarn, I Love This Cotton in Ivory, which I thought would be good for washcloths.  I found a pattern for a pretty washcloth, appropriately called, Prettiest Lil’ Crocheted Washcloth.  The pattern is really easy, although take note that it is written in British terms.  All you need to know to make this washcloth is cs and dc (tc).  And look how pretty this washcloth is!

I tried another washcloth pattern called Crunch Stitch Crochet Washcloth.  Again, another easy pattern with all sc, sl st and hdc.  I liked making this one up and it came up big and almost as pretty as the other one I made.

Next up I tried to tackle that new scrubby yarn, I tried Washi from Premier Yarns.  I found a simple “Pattern” called Easy Crochet Dish Scrubbies.  We’re down to basics here with just chain and sc.  A great beginner project if you can stand the scrubby yarn.  I hated it.  This stuff hurts your hands.  I powered through and finished the scrubby, but I thought there is no way I’m going to make another one of those.  Yuck!

Since I hated this yarn so much, I thought how can I use up more scrubby yarn without tearing up my hands?  I was checking Pinterest for more patterns and I saw a spiral washcloth.  I thought, that’d be great for this scrubby yarn, so I don’t have to work with it for too long.  So, I made my own spiral washcloth pattern for scrubby yarn.
