Every time, I tell myself I’m not going to spend too much. Then I end up spending too much. I think partly I feel guilty, like I should buy from everyone, which is ridiculous. And no, I don’t buy from everyone, but I do buy stuff from people I like and I buy stuff that I just have to have. So this year at the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival I came home with a bunch of stuff.
Well first of all I didn’t need to buy everything. There was some free stuff this weekend, which was really cool. We got a skein of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice with every class. Mom gave me her skeins too, which leaves me with 7 skeins. That’s enough for a nice sized project. We also completed the scavenger hunt (which was hard by the way). Thankfully, people were helping out along the way. The gift for completing the scavenger hunt was a nice tablet bag and a Noro pattern book.
I picked up this beautiful baby alpaca yarn at the Friday night Block Party from Songbird Artistry, LLC. I’m a sucker for anything pink and soft. Love this yarn!
My husband and I love handmade soaps and cats, so I picked up this towel with a couple of soaps from Ashgrove Soaps and Sundries.
I’m a fan of Robyn Chachula’s classes and her patterns so I picked up some books from her booth and another crochet kit put together by Stunning String Studio. Her shop is called Love Laugh Crochet. The Motif Madness book is not her patterns, but still a good book.
I found Scheepjes Whirl! Harps and Thistle Yarn & Gift Emporium carried their yarn, so I bought two! They look gorgeous.
This fantastic art yarn is called Jambalaya. Well I love Jambalaya, so I had to buy some of this from Artisinal Yarns. This yarn is fun! And I can’t wait to use it.
These cat nip felt balls came from Sheepish Creations (as well as something else, but that is a gift for someone, so I can’t share). The cats love these by the way. They were going crazy when I brought these home.
This sweet little felted bag came from Twisted Yarn and Fiber. I like this little bag because it is fair trade.
My teacher from Hairpin Lace and Broomstick Lace, Laura Regan, has her own shop, Created 4 U by Laura. She and her husband dye yarn and sell it. And it is beautiful. I bought a hank of it and have something in mind to make with it.
Friday night, when I got back from taking the keys to my husband, I had missed my Hairpin Lace Class. Mom was at the bar and she was sitting with Laura and her husband and the Gentlemen from Underhill Farm. Well, mom and I had the best time hanging out with the four of them. They knew each other and then mom and I were sitting in between them, so the six of us ended up talking and having a great time. I’m not a very social person, so it was fun for me to hang out with new people.
I bought four hanks of yarn from Underhill Farm. I love the fact that they label which goats the yarn was made from. These men were awesome. We had the best time hanging out with them Friday night and every time we ran into them at the festival. Such nice guys. Check out their wool.
One more thing I bought was a top that I wore to Mom’s BD dinner on Saturday night. I bought it at The Maasai International. We rode in the elevator with Minala and she was sweet Mom bought a top that was in bright reds and mine was more pastel blues and pinks. I didn’t get a picture of it, but trust me it’s nice. I love Minala’s style, she has a bit of a Bohemian flair to her stuff.
Don’t ask me how much I spent. I have no idea, but probably way too much. There were plenty more vendors that I did not buy from:
